Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Xbox One X Beats PS4 Pro By 76% in Pixel Counts, Do We Need Another Xbox Right Now?

The news of another Xbox machine being announced later this year is circulating. It is believed by some that Microsoft is aiming to make an official announcement by the end of 2018. But do we need another Xbox so soon? Xbox One X is more than capable of handling upcoming titles for a least a couple of years.

In fact, a recent analysis done by Digital Foundry showed impressive performance data. The Xbox One X has 76% more pixel count than PS4 Pro. It is more than impressive, and the console is more than capable of delivering quality performance for another two years. However, if Microsoft is planning to announce a new console this year, what’s the underlying reason behind this decision?

From what we understand, it is Sony.

Sony has been way ahead of the game for so long now. PS4 is the most successful console of this generation. Microsoft needs to push another machine out before Sony makes its move. The Xbox 360 had a year-long head start that contributed to its success. At E3 2018, Microsoft announced the acquisition of a handful of studios for its first-party game development.

With a strong games lineup and a head start, Microsoft could push Sony on the back foot. On the other hand, the downside of a rushed new console is revealing your hand to Sony. The competitor will then use the extra time to create a better console, a better gaming experience for the players. It is a tricky situation but as a consumer, do I feel the need for another Xbox? No.

The Xbox One X, at this point, is more than capable of running the most demanding games. I guess we’ll know by the end of the year what is it that Microsoft is planning.
