PlayStation Awards 2018 Are Coming This December, Mark Your Calenders

Looks like there was a reason to cancel PlayStation Experience this year. As Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan and Asia recently announced that its annual award ceremony known as “PlayStation Awards” will take place this year.

This will be the 24th Edition of this PlayStation Awards show. It’s one of the biggest events held since 1994, which was the year when PlayStation came into existence. As for the prizes, There are three different prizes for the games that sold the most.

Below is the list of prizes along with their categories.

  • Platinum Prize: Cumulative number of shipments (number of deliveries) Title exceeding 1 million
  • Gold Prize: Cumulative shipment number (number of deliveries) Title exceeding 500,000
  • PlayStation ™ Network Award: Top three network titles (total from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018)
  • User’s Choice Award: 10 titles by users’ voting (titles released from 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018)
  • PlayStation VR Awards: Three titles contributed to the sales and format rise of PlayStation VR (Total from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018) * Excluded last year’s awards title
  • Indie & Developer Award: Three titles contributing to the expansion of the title lineup of PlayStation (total from 1st October 2017 to 30th September 2018) ※ Last year’s commendation title is excluded

PlayStation Awards 2018’s User’s Choice Award will get to receive votes from gamers. Now for those interested, Voting for User’s Choice Award is open and to vote you will need a Japanese PlayStation Network account.

As for Sony, there was another huge announcement made by them last week. They announced the extended beta of Fortnite cross-play allowing PlayStation players to play with friends over Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

This was a huge step by Sony and all the developers of the gaming industry went on to congratulate Sony and appreciate what they have done for the community. Sony took so long to bring this change because they were already testing it behind the scenes to ensure that everything works.
