Nintendo Switch Online has finally arrived and it brought us great new features such as Cloud Saves but what disappointing was that your Cloud Saves will be lost when the subscription ends as said on Nintendo UK’s Switch Online FAQ but recently, Nintendo has confirmed that it’s not going to be the case calming all the worried fans.
This came into the news after Nintendo UK’s Switch Online FAQ dropped the horrible news but the company has now confirmed that your Cloud Saves will be kept safe for at least 6 months giving you enough time to resubscribe to the membership and keep on playing.
IGN made direct contact with Nintendo to discuss the issue and revealed the following statement.
“If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users won’t be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups. However, Nintendo will allow users who resubscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Data Cloud backups.”
This is now a lot better than the previous statement which said “Save data stored with Save Data Cloud cannot be kept outside of the duration of your Nintendo Switch Online membership” worrying every Nintendo Switch users about their game saves.
We are glad that Nintendo addressed the issue and reassured the fans but Nintendo Switch Online is still causing problems especially in China where people are facing issues like black screen and connectivity errors. This is probably due to the Google-based servers in China but on the other hand, Nintendo hasn’t shared any information on any solution to this problem yet.
Cloud Saves is a great feature to have but still, it’s limited to some games excluding Splatoon 2, Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee but Nintendo has confirmed that most games will support this feature. If you are not sure about which games then check out here to know about the games supported.
Now if you are outside China, make sure to update to the latest 6.0 system update which brings all the new online features including a new way to game share with friends and a new update for your Joy-Con controllers.
We hope that Nintendo looks further into the issues of Nintendo Switch Online and improves it over time as people already have complaints about it and not to forget, it’s already been hacked.
