It seems that the map of Fallout 76 is going to go with the name Appalachia. The official Fallout Twitter posted a picture of a Guitar Sword which is perhaps going to be the weapon of choice at the start of the game. While declaring the weapon, authorities actually also revealed the name of the Fallout 76 map while relating Appalachia with the previous locations of previous titles like Commonwealth and the Capital Wasteland.
The recent reveal was intended to highlight that Fallout 76 is not going to feature just a typical location, or at least not without a little twist to it. In this regards the tweet said:
How does Appalachia differ from the Commonwealth or Capital Wasteland? It starts with a Guitar Sword. #Fallout76
Capital Wasteland featured in the Fallout 3 title whereas Commonwealth was the location for the last Fallout installment. Now, as the updates are shaping up Appalachia is most possibly the name for the location of Fallout 76. It is situated in the South American tier with not one city to revolve the game around.
Most of the previous maps have been focused to follow one specific city whereas Fallout 76 might a new angle to it by offering various small-town roads and trail leading to scattered locations. This would only increase the possibilities for the open world of the game.
As developers, Bethesda has acknowledged themselves that this time Fallout is not going to be a one year game but for the ages. Perhaps, several locations would better adhere to this idea than focusing on just one city.
Moreover, Fallout 76 is a game largely run according to your imagination which makes the gaming experience even more realistic with new locations to explore from time to time. Reports have also suggested the upcoming title to be just slightly different from the prior titles although the single-player mode is described to be like Fallout 4’s.
