Destiny 2 Forsaken has been a huge step up as compared to the previous 2 expansions. Here we are going to talk about the Destiny 2 Forsaken ending. If you have not played Destiny 2 Forsaken yet and have not unlocked the Dreaming City yet then you should not read on as this story will contain spoilers.
Who Is Riven?
In the end, we see a huge creature that has tentacles and is called the voice of Riven. This is not the main antagonist of the DLC and just a creature that has come in its place, like the Mouth of Sauron from Lord of the Rings. So who is this Riven? From the lore, it has been all but confirmed that Riven is an Ahamkara and was once an ally of Maira Sov. It is more than likely that Riven was taken and has been corrupted to go against Maira Sov. Much like what happened to Uldren Sov.
What we know about Riven is that the Ahamkara are supposed to be dragon-like creatures that are capable of granting wishes. We also know that the Ahamkara are shapeshifters, so it is possible that we have met one in the game but do not really know about their true nature. Long ago there was a great hunt in which these Ahamkara were killed because they were deemed too dangerous but we do know that not all of them were killed and a few might still be in existence.
It is also worth noting that the upcoming raid is called the Last Wish and the Ahamkara are known for making wishes comes true so it is more than likely that Riven will be the raid boss.
Who Kills Uldren Sov?
You might have noticed that the ending cutscene fades to Black and we hear a shot fired but we do not know who fired the bullet. That is most likely because Bungie wanted players to have a choice. Whether or not you decide to kill Uldren is up to you. You could think that you should kill him and if that is the case you can imagine that you did. But if not then you can think that Petra took the shot. It is more of an open ending, for the player to decide what happens.
I for one would like to have shot him in the face but then again in the words of none other than Uldren Sov “The line between light and darkness is thin, are you sure which side you are on?” That is kind of what the Destiny 2 Forsaken ending is like. You could imagine that you took the high ground or you could imagine that you pulled the trigger.
Destiny 2 Forsaken is a great expansion and you can check it out if you have not done so already. You can also check out my review of the expansion if that is something that you are interested in.
