CCP Games To Be Acquired By Pearl Abyss, Will Work As An Independent Studio

The video game developer company, Pearl Abyss has recently announced that it will be acquiring CCP Games very soon.

However, they also said that even though they will be acquiring it, CCP Games will still continue to work independently as a developer with studios situated in Reykjavik, London, and Shanghai.

Now although the studio will be working independently, based on the deal they will be integrating themselves with Pearl Abyss’s extensive development and publishing expertise and use them in all of the current and future projects.

The CEO of Pearl Abyss, Robin Jung talking about the expertise of CCP Games said:

We aim to learn from and hope to integrate natively into Pearl Abyss’ general practices across all our games. I am confident CCP’s reputable IP and expertise in global publishing will help reaffirm our company’s dedication to developing and servicing the world’s best MMORPGs.

Moreover, Jung has also shown a lot of happiness and added that Pearl Abyss is thrilled about, being able to work with CCP games. He said:

We are thrilled to have CCP Games join our team as Black Desert Online continues to branch out globally. CCP is a seasoned publisher with over 15 years of digital distribution experience and know-how. They have done an incredible job of engaging and maintaining their player base.

The appreciation was not one-sided, the CEO of CCP Games Hilmar Veigar Petursson also showed optimism to this opportunity and has shared positive comments as well.

I have been seriously impressed with what Pearl Abyss has achieved ever since I first visited their website for Black Desert Online and subsequently became an avid player of the game.

That said, for those who might not be familiar with either of the companies, CCP Games, is an Icelandic video game developer located in Reykjavík while Pearl Abyss, is a gaming company located in South Korea.

Abyss is known for its online game Black Desert while CCP is known for developing online game Eve. Now Black Desert Online is a sandbox oriented role-playing multiplayer game and Eve Online is also a role-playing multiplayer game.

Both of the games have had a fair share of the audience, so it does seem a really good opportunity for both of the companies, to use the each other’s capabilities to enhance their potential and bring better games to the audience.
