Sony CEO Says “PlayStation is the best place to play” Regarding Crossplay

Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida mentioned why Sony is not willing to enable crossplay and according to him, PlayStation is the best platform to game.

Sony has not been very cool about Crossplay with Xbox in any game even though the devs and players have been asking for the feature for a long time now. Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida, touched on the matter and he mentioned why Sony is not willing to enable crossplay and according to him, PlayStation is the best platform to game. The following is what he had to say in this regard:

On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief. But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform.

Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida also talked about what he thought about the competition with Xbox and Nintendo, he mentioned that fair competition is healthy. That is something that we believe in as well. Competition is great for the consumer and we can see that in the case of Intel and AMD but if the fans want crossplay then that is something that Sony should be open to.

Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida also touched on the matter of VR. He talked about how VR is still in its early stages. We know that while Sony is aiming to capture the VR market with the PSVR, Xbox has made no such move. While in the earlier days, the Xbox One X was reported to support VR but that was taken away from the marketing material and we have yet to see a headset that works with the Xbox One X. The following is what Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida had to say in this regard:

Virtual Reality is a completely unique experience and still evolving. VR is still in the very early stage and one potential evolution of VR is mixed reality. One of the issues with VR is that you can’t see outside, it’s a little bit dangerous – you have to sit down to use it. Also, there is VR motion sickness. So there is a lot of room of room to improve in VR experiences and you will see the change and the improvement.
