A new Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 trailer has been released by the folks at Focus Home Interactive, showing off the large number of different factions that will be included in the game. However, the game will also be getting delayed, coming in January rather than this year like it originally said.
The game takes place in the early 42nd Millennium in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Taking place during the “Gathering Storm” story arc of the franchise, Chaos has taken the fortress world of Cadia and the galaxy has been divided in two by the Great Rift, a massive tear in the fabric of reality that has opened holes into the Warp.
Led by the reborn Primarch of the Ultramarines Roboute Guilliman, the fleets of the Imperium of Man sail the void of space, battling every number of other forces that aim to capitalize on the Imperium’s weakness. Along with the Imperium, races like the Tau Empire, Dark and regular Eldar, Orks, Tyranids, and Necrons are all going to be battling one another for supremacy.
The original Battlefleet Gothic Armada game came out in 2016 and got a lot of positive attention for its gameplay and story, and with the Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 trailer showing so many different factions in it from the start, there’s no telling what all will be happening this time around. We can likely expect similar gameplay to the original game, but likely with much more dire circumstances and likely a larger variety of maps as well.
The story, however, might be something entirely different. While the original game was just the Imperium fighting Chaos and occasionally Orks, with all of the different factions around as seen in the Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 trailer, especially the Necrons and Tyranids, there’s no telling what the story is going to be about. The Gatherig Storm era is uncharted territory, and with this apparently being canon it can go anywhere.
You can see the trailer for yourself back up the article, and be on the lookout for the game releasing in January.
