Warhammer Vermintide 2 has gotten its first bit of DLC, called Shadows Over Bogenhafen. The DLC is the first of the game’s kind, and will likely be followed by many more if the game continues to be as successful as it has been since it released back in March of this year.
The DLC tells the story of a cursed sword known as the Blightreaper, a sword infested with the powers of Nurgle, the Chaos God of Pestilence and Disease. Formerly in the hands of a Chaos warlord known as Droog Warfiend, the Blightreaper was taken from his corpse and sealed away in the Imperial merchant city of Bogenhafen, which has been invaded by Chaos warriors seeking its power.
The DLC focuses around the Ubersreik characters going to save the town from its blight and hopefully destroy the sword to the bargain, though you’ll likely have to carve through a huge number of both Skaven and Chaos warriors in order to take the sword and destroy it.
The new Shadows Over Bogenhafen DLC will be bringing players two new levels (The Pit and The Cleansing), a variety of new cosmetics including new headgear, new portrait frames, and illusions, and new quests and challenges for you to undertake over the course of your missions. These quests and challenges often get you materials or even new weapons.
While it might be short, the DLC will hopefully keep you playing through a madcap chase through cramped city streets as you and three friends (or bots) carve through hordes of Skaven and Chaos Warriors in order to get the sword. The game is constantly being updated not just with new patches, events, and adjustments but also DLC, so you can expect more DLC packs to follow along behind Shadows of Bogenhafen.
You can buy Warhammer Vermintide 2 on the Xbox and PC now.
