If you’re one of the many people who are looking to get your Devil Triggers pulled by playing Devil May Cry 5, you’re in luck. The gameplay trailer that the game has at Gamescom has revealed the Devil May Cry 5 release date to us. The game is coming out on March 8, 2019.
Devil May Cry 5 is the next entry in the original Devil May Cry franchise, rather than being a sequel to the rebooted game that came out back in 2013. The game takes place years after the original Devil May Cry games that starred Dante in the central role. Instead, this time the protagonist is Nero, who first appeared in Devil May Cry 4 and is now the central character.
In addition to the normal swords and guns that Devil May Cry protagonists normally fight with, Nero has also been given a prosthetic arm with eight different variants that allow him to deliver various finishing moves and attacks to demons, including things like a whip to pull them closer or a gigantic arm cannon that he can use to blast them away.
You’ll be seeing more abilities once the Devil May Cry 5 release date rolls around.
However, Dante will also be making an appearance, as he’s part of the gameplay demo that was available to play at Gamescom today. He will be the second of the three protagonists of the game, with the third one having yet to be revealed. Devil May Cry 4 came out ten years ago, so there’s a lot of players who are anxiously waiting for the return of the original crew.
While DMC Devil May Cry was a fairly well-reviewed game with a lot of good mechanics, many people were turned off by the drastic change in Reboot Dante’s look and attitude, with a huge amount of gratuitous swearing for no reason other than to make sure the game earned its M-rating. Hopefully once the Devil May Cry 5 release date rolls around, we’ll be able to get back to the true Devil May Cry.
