Dark Souls Remastered Switch Release Date Announced, Coming October 19

The Dark Souls Remastered Switch release date has finally been announced, coming October 19 with a Solaire of Astora Amiibo to go along with it.

While the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Dark Souls Remastered are already out and available, we haven’t heard anything about a date for the Switch, until now. The Dark Souls Remastered Switch release date is October 19, five months after it was originally announced and six after the other versions were released.

Dark Souls was the game that shot From Software into the spotlight, even after Demon’s Souls won a great deal of praise and making the studio’s reputation of creating extremely difficult RPGs. While Demon’s Souls showed the concept could be successful, Dark Souls was the perfected version of that game, and won critical acclaim, enough to give it two sequels and give rise to the “Soulsborne” and “Soulslike” genres.

The Dark Souls Remastered Switch release date is also a symbol that the games have transcended the boundaries of consoles, as previously they were exclusive to the Xbox and Playstation before slowly branching out to the PC and now to the Nintendo Switch over the past six years. And, with games like Bloodborne coming out, the Soulsborne genre has remained a powerful force especially for players that like a challenge.

The Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered will be getting a network test before the game actually releases, which will allow Nintendo and From Software to be able to make sure that the game’s online play can run properly. Considering how invasions and summoning other players are a huge part of the game, to not have a working network in the game would be a big absence from Dark Souls.

Along with the Remastered version of Dark Souls, a Solaire of Astora Amiibo will also be included, but we have no idea of what that amiibo will actually do yet. More information is coming, so mark the Dark Souls Remastered Switch release date on your calendar if you own a Switch.
