Fallout 76 PC Will Be “Bethesda.Net” Exclusive, Won’t Be Coming To Steam

Steam is the biggest marketplace for PC games, however, Bethesda has decided to not release the upcoming Fallout 76 PC on Steam. Fallout 76 PC will be exclusive to Bethesda’s own PC game client, Bethesda.Net.

This comes as a surprise since Bethesda has been releasing its PC games on Steam and didn’t explain the reason behind locking the game behind its own proprietary store, Bethesda.Net.

Bethesda confirmed to PCGamer that Fallout 76 PC won’t be coming to Steam saying “The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the B.E.T.A. and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam”.

While this comes as a surprise but, Bethesda might be making Fallout 76 PC exclusive to Bethesda.Net due to the multiplayer nature of the game.

Another reason for keeping Fallout 76 PC exclusive to Bethesda.Net might be to control the game revenue.

Also, there is a chance that eventually the game will come to Steam as back in 2016, Bethesda launched Fallout Shelter on Bethesda.net and the game was released on PC in March 2017.

Bethesda isn’t the only one who has PC client of its own for PC games as Epic Games has its own PC client “Epic Games Launcher” for Fortnite.

Ubisoft also has a client of its own, Uplay, but Ubiosft does release its games on Steam.

Fallout 76 will be the first game in the franchise to be a multiplayer title instead of being a single-player one.

However, the multiplayer nature of the game has Bethesda worried and at the same time, it is quite confident about it.

According to Bethesda’s Todd Howard, the team behind the Fallout 76 is sometimes afraid because of the multiplayer nature of the game just like fans are afraid of Bethesda making it a multiplayer experience which might lead to a disaster.

Furthermore, the game won’t have any DLC or season pass as Bethesda has confirmed all DLC for Fallout 76 will be free.

There’s always going to be new content, changes in game balance, whatever it takes, and by the way, it’s all free after launch – all our content, there’s no season pass and no paid DLCs.
