In Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails, there is even more stuff. One of these challenges is the Skeleton Ships that now float on the perilous oceans. It can get a little tricky to bring down their ship, so we have put together a Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails Skeleton Ships which you may find helpful in tackling the Skeleton Ship threat.
Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails Skeleton Ships
There is no real requirement to summon and defeat the Skeleton Ships in the game but completing some story-related missions might provide some useful background knowledge about these new threats that are springing up.
How you should start is by heading to the Golden Sands outpost and speaking to Sharon there. She will guide you to Wanda’s Shop which is now in ruins as you discover but not without any clues.
You will notice an amulet and a note lying on the table. Interact with them and follow the skeleton footsteps in the sand that lead to water. Inspect this final clue.
Following the footsteps, head to Crescent Isle and talk to Salty, an ex-shopkeeper who will give you hints about your next destinations: Thief’s Haven, Mermaid’s Hideaway, and Sunken Grove.
In these three locations, your job would be to find a note. In Thief’s Haven, the note can be found next to a tent towards the northeast of the region. In Mermaid’s Hideaway, the note lies beside a campfire near the shore. Lastly, in Sunken Grove, there is a cave towards the center of the area. Head inside it to the find the last note.
Head back to Salty who will inform you of the whereabouts of Wanda. Traveling to Wanderer’s Refuge, head for a tunnel and then behind some rocks, you will find a passageway to Wanda’s laboratory. Finally, head back to Sharon and she will give you a sail free. She will also recommend you to check out the other seas: The Wild and The Ancient Isles.
Defeating the Skeletons and Sinking their Ship
Therefore, in all the three seas, you can summon a Skeleton Ship crew to fight them. The location for the spawning of these ships are not fixed but they will only change weekly. For this week, use your pocket watch and head to either:
- Between 1st and 10th of Smuggler’s Bay in The Shores of Plenty
- Between 11th and 20th of Shark Bait’s Cove in Ancient Isles
- Between 21st and 30th of Marauder’s Arch in the Wilds
Now let us talk about the ship itself. The skeleton sail has eight cannons, some cannonballs which can apply the curse effect, a sniper platform and a captain who leads a crew of constantly respawning skeletons. One of the skeletons quickly repairs any holes made in the ship’s structure. Moreover, Skeleton Ships appear in pairs so we would definitely recommend getting as many crew members as possible, especially after it has been made possible with the new alliance feature.
The cursed cannons can cause the crew to get drunk and so function with less stability or not at all. Moreover, since there does not seem to be an end for the skeletons, sinking the ship is the only means of getting rid of them. A brave crewmember shall be given the responsibility to guard a hole in the ship’s structure so skeletons cannot repair it.
This will ensure that water leaks out of the ship at an alarming rate. The player can get some help from other crewmembers who have not boarded the skeleton ship. Also, whenever cursed cannon is loaded, shown by the ‘green meter’, quickly shoot down the skeleton that is doing so.
You can also use gunpowder and other explosives to put more holes into the ship of your foes. Either way, you need to continuously resupply from nearby outposts to ensure you survive until the end of the battle. Grab the meaty rewards and loot at the end and you have achieved your goal.
