GameStop Elite Pro Membership Might Be Ending According To Rumors

Gamestop seems to be following in the footsteps of Best Buy, ending their premium subscription, GameStop Elite Pro Membership. Even though nothing is confirmed yet, it comes as no surprise since Gamestop is up for sale for a couple of months now.

Are physical retailers facing sales issues? Undeniably, the rise of digital purchases has caused problems to some extent to all big retailers like Gamestop, Best Buy, and Amazon. Even though it is slightly noticeable, all three retailers have been going through changes in their policies and membership programs.

According to a Reddit user, the GameStop Elite Pro Membership will get canceled starting August 1st, being unavailable for renewal. In the post, fans express their discontent with this rumor, stating that they were indeed buying more games due to Elite Pro.

The GameStop Elite Pro Membership is the second tier of paid membership and was priced at $29.99 per year. It came with the following perks:

  • 30 points for every dollar spent (3x points)
  • A birthday offer
  • 20% off pre-owned software and accessories
  • 20% extra trade credit on software, accessories, and for the first time ever, tech
  • 12 issues of Game Informer Magazine
  • A Buy 2 Get 1 free pre-owned games welcome offer
  • A collectibles welcome offer
  • Free 2-day shipping

The standard Pro membership seems to be staying unaffected by this outcome, keeping its place on the shelfes at Gamestop. This one is $14.99 per year and has the following benefits:

  • 20 points for every dollar spent (2x points)
  • A birthday offer
  • 10% off pre-owned software and accessories
  • 10% extra trade credit on software, accessories, and for the first time ever, tech
  • 12 issues of Game Informer Magazine
  • A Buy 2 Get 1 free pre-owned games welcome offer
  • Exclusive Pro Day Sales
