U.S Army To Host Street Fighter 5 Tournament, Will Be Streamed On Twitch

This is something unusual as The United States Army is going to hold an Esports tournament including Street Fighter V series which will be streamed live on Twitch all over the world. This tournament will be held among active U.S Army personnel and it was revealed on Twitter to support the morale of American soldiers.

The team behind the tournament, US Army Installation Management Command is expecting a lot of people as it’s Invitational. The tournament is open for any active soldier working in the Army who has some mad gaming skills to show. Open qualifiers will be held at eight military bases, at each Army posts including the ones outside of the country. Each bracket in the tournament will be in a double-elimination format.

The tournament is scheduled to stream live on new Twitch channel created by Army Entertainment which is an official agency of U.S. Department of Defense providing entertainment to all the U.S soldiers.

The tournament will be held at the following locations, dates and among these soldiers.

The live streamed tournaments include Fort Bliss on July 28, Fort Gordon on Aug. 11, Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Aug. 18 and Fort Wainwright on Aug. 25. Professional Fighting game shoutcasters and Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Jones, an avid gamer and fellow Soldier, will commentate the tournament. Jones is a Military Police, currently stationed as the Hammond La. Station Commander for the United States Army Recruiting Command.

The other tournaments which will not be streamed will take place at Fort Riley, USAG Humphreys, USAG Bavaria and Fort Knox.

Commentary on the game will be done by Sergeant First Class Christopher Jones who has done commentary on fighting games before.

The winners of each round will face each other inside Grand Finale which will be held at Pax West in Seattle, Washington on September 1. In case you are wondering, these finals are already sold out but you can watch them live on Twitch.
