Support for Guardians Of the Galaxy Director Acquires 300,000 Signatures On Petition.

Following the firing of filmmaker James Gunn by Disney due to offensive tweets, the fans have been constantly backing the Guardians of the Galaxy Director with their support. Various online petitions were launched by the fans and the most lively petition has just crossed 300,000 signatures.

Several petitions generated online have been able to achieve their objectives through spreading awareness about the issue. In the case of James Gunn, supporters have been merely expressing their love for him. Through the petition of rehiring the Guardians Of the Galaxy Director Marvel fans tend to show their support regardless of his controversial tweet in the past.

The petition says “I’m smart enough to know this most likely won’t change anything but hopefully, this could get Disney to realize the mistake they made and not do it again in the future”. Further continues as:

I agree on the point that if people say a bunch of stupid sh-t while working for a studio, the studio has full right to fire him over the possible controversy, This situation is very different though as he made these jokes years before he was working for Disney and also the fact that they were jokes. I agree with most, including Gunn himself that the jokes were shitty and un-funny but they were still jokes, it wasn’t an opinion or a statement, it was just a bad attempt at being funny.

Along with support from such fans Guardians of the Galaxy Director was also backed by actors like Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan on social media. James Gunn’s fellow Michael Rooker also deleted his twitter account following this issue.

James Gunn was confronted for his controversial tweet from 2009 by the people who wanted to dig dirt on him following Gunn’s political tweets. The tweets posted by Guardians of the Galaxy Director had jokes on pedophilia and rape, both scandalous subjects.

As the tweets were brought to light, Disney released their statement on the matter saying:

The offensive attitudes and statements on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.

Since James Gunn got fired he has got mixed responses. Before this issue came up Guardians of the Galaxy Director even received love from Microsoft let alone Marvel fans.

This just goes to show no matter his mistaken comments people have been admirers of James Gunn since long. Despite the positive response Disney seems to show no positive hint of rehiring Guardians of the Galaxy Director.
