Resident Evil 2 Remake Won’t Have VR Support And Here Is Why!

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 2 Remake will not feature VR support and has also explained why the team behind the game has decided to keep virtual reality out of the picture.

This is a bit surprising since Capcom introduced VR support for Resident Evil 7 at launch. However, Capcom has also explained why it has decided to ditch VR support for Resident Evil 2 Remake.

According to producer Tsuyoshi Kanda, the reason why they have decided to not include VR support for Resident Evil 2 remake is that the over the shoulder perspective of the game isn’t the best way to experience virtual reality.

We’re not thinking about VR support currently, given that the camera perspective and the over-the-shoulder choice would mean that VR is not the best way to present the game. VR doesn’t match the vision for us.

This certainly makes sense since most of the VR games are first-person and even Resident Evil 7 was a first-person title.

Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added that the rat’s eye view in the trailer might have given fans a wrong idea that the game will be first-person or will feature section with that kind of view.

Thinking about it, maybe giving you the rat’s eye view in the trailer might have given people the wrong idea!” laughed Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. “But if you think there is Rat VR coming… that’s not the case.

Speaking of the game, the upcoming remake will be coming to PC and current-gen consoles, however, Capcom has no plans to bring the game to Nintendo Switch.

According to the brand manager at Capcom, Mike Lunn, “No, not at this time. We just wanted to focus on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the moment”.

Furthermore, Capcom has also confirmed system requirements for the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2. Given the level of detail, the game demands a reasonable system.
