Microsoft “Investing Aggressively In Content, Community, Cloud Services” Says CEO Satya Nadella

Microsoft might have neglected the PC platform in the past but the company has realized its fault now and has been working on making amends. Thankfully, the PC master race is a forgiving community and appreciates the efforts that Microsoft is putting in. During Microsoft’s quarterly financial conference call, CEO Satya Nadella talked about the performance of the company.

He mentioned that this is the first time that Microsoft’s gaming business passed ten billion dollars in revenue. CEO Satya Nadella had the following to say in this regard:

In gaming, we’re pursuing our expansive opportunity from the way games are created and distributed, to how they’re played and viewed, surpassing ten billion revenue this year for the first time. We’re investing aggressively in content, community, and cloud services across every end-point to expand usage and deepen engagement with gamers. The combination of Xbox Live Game Pass subscription and Mixer are driving record levels of growth and engagement.

At E3 2018, Microsoft announced the acquisition of 3 major studios and the company also formed a new studio of its own. We expect this to be a sign that there will be a strong lineup of first-party exclusive games for the Xbox Scarlet when it comes out. We have already learned that the team is currently working on architecturing the Xbox Scarlet and reports claim that the console will hit the market before the PS5.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella touched on the matter further at the quarterly financial conference call and the following is what he had to say in this regard:

PlayFab accelerates our vision to build a world-class cloud platform for the gaming industry across mobile, PC, and console. The addition of five new gaming studios bolsters our first-party content development to support our fast-growing gaming services.

We talked about what the upcoming Xbox Scarlet might have to offer and what the devs want from the upcoming console. We also talked about streaming to smartphones being a potential selling point of the upcoming Xbox. This might be the investment in the cloud that Nadella is talking about. He further went on to mention the following regarding growth in the gaming scene:

In gaming, we expect mid-teens revenue growth, with continued strong user engagement on our platforms. The software and services growth rate will moderate due to a strong third-party title launch a year ago.

Let us know what you think about these statements from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and whether or not you are excited about what Microsoft will have to offer under the Xbox brand in the upcoming days.
