Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion release date is coming in close with Bungie sharing a tonne of details to pull back its long-gone fan base. In the article, we have discussed everything we know about Destiny 2 Forsaken including gameplay changes, Gambit, weapons, new enemies, and more.
From what we know, Destiny 2 Forsaken will be a huge expansion; almost on the same scale as The Taken King. Destiny 2 Forsaken will be a part of the new annual Season Pass announced earlier which will include 3 DLCs.
Everything about Destiny 2 Forsaken
Destiny 2 Forsaken will take us back to the Reef, Home of the Elders; the place where Cayde-6 imprisoned the big bad wolves of the Solar System… and you guessed it right, some things will go down and they will escape.
Cayde-6 will apparently die as seen in the trailer that caused a lot of anger. Needless to say but our mission in Destiny 2 Forsaken will be to take revenge. The expansion will be quite fast paced because we will be facing an aggressive enemy that we will discuss below.
There will be two new playable areas called The Tangled Shore and a new raid The Dreaming City. A majority of the story will take place on The Tangled Shore. The Dreaming City is the homeworld of the Awoken, one of the races in Destiny 2.
The Tangled Shore
The Tangled Shore is the place where we will be playing most of the time. The Tangled Shore is a collection of asteroids that are merged together. Upon our arrival, the place will be overrun by Scorn; a new enemy we will be facing. It will be quite tricky to move around in this area, as it is in the middle of space and you could fall down anytime if you are not careful.
We will be doing most of the hunting in the area. We will be killing escaped prisoners in form of World Events at random locations.
The Dreaming City
The Dreaming City will be the new raid in Destiny 2 Forsaken. It will be one of a kind raid where upon completion it evolves with one raid team affecting the subsequent raids for everyone else. This is something exciting and it will bring a certain replayability factor to the game that it lacks now.
The Dreaming City will feature the story of the Awoken and their evolution over time. The Dreaming City will be locked at the start and you will have to complete the campaign to gain access to it.
Destiny 2 Forsaken will feature a new type of enemy titled The Scorn. They were Fallen once but due to experimentations and reanimations, they evolved to become the Scorn.
They were the ones trapped in the deepest part of the Prison of Elders. Due to the atrocities they faced, they have become immune to fear and will be very aggressive. The Scorn will the ones fighting face to face and will to not play hide and seek. Our job will be to imprison them once again.
This means that players will have to optimize more mobility in the gear compared to previous DLCs.
New Game Mode Gambit
Gambit is the new Multiplayer Mode featured in Destiny 2 Forsaken. This mode will be a mix of PVE/PVE. The mode was also showcased at E3 this year and was playable for the audience at the event.
Gambit will feature a combat system in which two teams of four members each will face off against AI enemies. In this mode, your objective will be to kill the final boss before the other team.
Killing the enemies will give you ‘Motes’ that you will use to do multiple things. The final boss can only be summoned by ‘Motes’. You can also use the ‘Motes’ to lock the bank of the opposing team forcing them to kill a mini-boss.
Motes can also be used to transfer one of your members to the other team’s area where he can cause havoc. This is quite an interesting feature allowing you to slow the other team down and disrupt the flow of the game.
This mode will bring a lot of versatility to the game in sense of PVP, as it will be quite beneficial to have someone in your team who is good at PVP situations as compared to PVE-oriented teams.
Destiny 2 Forsaken will feature new Supers. Every class will be getting x3 new Supers each. Each class has x3 Supers right now but when Forsaken launches, you will have the opportunity to choose from x6 Super types. It will easier to adapt to certain mechanics as more options surface.
NightStalker: Way of the Wraith
Smoke Bombs will slow the enemies down and will do a lot of damage.
Precision Kills will make you invisible; will also grant you true sight helping you see through walls.
It will make you invisible for some time.
Gunslinger: Way of the Thousand Cuts
You throw out a fan of knives that will light the enemies on fire.
Killing burning enemies will charge your melee ability faster. Burning enemies helps to recharge your Dodge.
You fire a barrage of knives causing a high amount of damage.
Arcstrider: Way of the Current
Sliding before attacking will cause the hunter to use their staff doing an electric uppercut causing a lot of melee damage.
Melee hits let you reload quickly; doing consecutive melee hits disorients the enemies recharging your abilities. All of your arc abilities electrify enemies increasing Arc damage.
You will be able to reflect projectiles with your staff, hitting the enemies with three times the damage.
Voidwalker: Atonement of Fusion
Melee attack generate a Void explosion ahead of warlock.
Void ability kills will restore ability energy and health.
You will be able to use a few short-range jumps before generating an explosion around yourself.
Stormcaller: Atonement of Control
The melee ability will fire an orb that will explode in a short time sending lightning bolts to the ground.
Killing enemies with Arc damage will have a chance to drop Ionic traces that you can pick to rechargeability energy.
You fire a beam of Arc energy that can be deactivated anytime.
Dawnblade: Atonement of Grace
Your melee attacks cause the enemies to burn. Burning enemies take increased damage from you and your party members.
Holding the grenade consumes it. This effect will let you heal your ally and place a shielding orb on allies. Any healing caused by your abilities will generate your non-Super abilities faster.
You will be able to create a large rift that will both heal and buff you and your allies who stand in it. This rift lasts for 30 seconds.
Sentinel – Code of the Commander
Your melee ability causes an explosion around that target upon impact. This effect also detonates void detonators on nearby targets.
Your Void damage attaches a Void detonator, dealing damage to a target with a void detonator cause it to explode.
There is a high chance of Void Detonators to spread to other enemies causing a chain reaction. Explosions caused around the allies heals them as well as replenishing grenade energy.
You can summon a barrier of light energy to protect you from the front. This shield blocks all incoming damage and protects you. Allies shooting through the shield will increase the duration of the shield.
Sunbreaker – Code of the Devastator
Your melee ability causes you to throw a hammer at the target instead of a knife. Hammer can be picked from the ground again that can fully recharge your melee ability.
Picking the hammer will cause your health to regenerate. Your Solar damage kills will increase your damage that will stack up to 3 times.
You will smash the hammer on the ground causing sending flaming tornadoes in the surrounding area.
Striker – Code of the Missile
Your melee ability will cause you to jump in the air allowing to fly like a guided missile toward your enemies
Your melee ability hits will cause your Super to recharge faster. Picking ammo during the slide will reload the weapon and increase the damage for a short time.
Your Super is an improved version of your melee. You launch yourself into the air and smash into the ground causing damage to surrounding enemies.
Introduction of Bow and Weapon Changes
Bows are coming to Destiny 2 for the first time as a weapon. It will primarily be a one-shot weapon with high skill high reward type. This weapon will be quite significant in PVP combat and may not be that effective in PVE.
From Forsaken onwards, you will be able to use the same type of weapon in 3 slots. Bungie has also changed the way weapons works. Your weapons stats will be determined by RNG on pick up rather than all weapons having same stats. There will be high incentive to find the better gear if you hunting for a certain stat.
They will also implement the new Weapon System in which you will gradually level up your weapon and improve than overtime. This way you can invest in your favorite guns and level them up rather getting an alternative when they get obsolete.
