AMD announced its 2nd-gen Ryzen Threadripper CPU with 32 cores and 64 threads during its Computex 2018 presentation. However, there is still no official word on the specs and the release of the 32 core enthusiasts-level CPU and now a report has popped up suggesting the release date for the upcoming Threadripper.
According to Benchlife, the upcoming AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990X will be launching on August 13, 2018.
However, the report suggests that August 13 will not only see the launch of Threadripper 2990X but will also see the launch of Ryzen Threadripper 2950X.
The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X is a 24-core and 48 threads CPU. As for the price of these CPUs, the report suggests that Threadripper 2990X with 32-cores will be available around $1,500.
As for the specs of 2nd-gen Ryzen Threadripper 2990X, while AMD hasn’t officially announced it but leaks and rumors suggest that the upcoming processor will feature 3 GHz base clock and a boost clock of 4 GHz.
Furthermore, the processor features 3MB L1 Cache, 16MB L2 Cache and 64MB L3 Cache along with XFR support which will give up to 200MHz of boost to the CPU’s clock speed.
Also, this report is in line with a previous rumor that AMD will reveal the 2nd-gen Threadripper in partnership with Ferrari.
Reportedly, the company has partnered up with Ferrari for the reveal event of 2nd-gen Ryzen Threadripper 2990X and will be hosting the event at Maranello in Northern Italy.
With the CPU being revealed in July, AMD will possibly launch the upcoming Ryzen Threadripper in August and if the report is to be believed then we will be able to get out hand on the processor on August 13, 2018.
Speaking of the leaked specs, recently specs for the upcoming Ryzen 5 2500X leaked along with its benchmarks. According to the leak, the Ryzen 5 2500X will feature 4 core/ 8 threads with a base clock of around 3.99 GHz and 8 MB of L3 cache.
However, this is not the only CPU whose specs have leaked online as benchmarks for the Ryzen 3 2300X also made their way online.
The benchmarks also revealed the specs for the CPU and according to them, the Ryzen 3 2300X features a base clock of 3.50 GHz and a boost clock of around 4 GHz.
