Elder Scrolls VI is the title that gamers wanted from Bethesda. While Bethesda did announce the game at E3 2018 along with Starfield but, the games are a long way from its official release as Fallout 76 is coming this year which will be followed by Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 down the line.
The point is that both Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield are a long way from their lanch and Bethesda has announced them too early. Now Bethesda’s Todd Howard has explained why did Bethesda announced both of these game so early.
According to Todd Howard, Bethesda’s decision to announce Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield so early was due to its fans.
He added that there is still time before the studio starts full production of Elder Scrolls 6 as Bethesda will be bringing two AAA titles before that and didn’t want to repeat the same statement.
We had already said publicly, ‘We are eventually going to do Elder Scrolls 6 but we have these other projects…’ and we felt like we would be saying that same thing right after E3 at something like this [Gamelab], so let’s make sure our fans know this is coming, and in what order. They don’t know what years – we have some ideas but we’re not positive either – but ‘here are the things we’re going to be doing’.
He added that another reason why Bethesda announced Elder Scrolls 6 so early was to make their own lives easier because if they didn’t announce the game then the fans would still be asking them about the game.
It’s better to say we’re making it. It makes life a little bit easier for us. [If we didn’t say anything] they would be disappointed and they’d still ask ‘What about Starfield?’ and ‘What about Elder Scrolls 6?’. But it’s also exciting! We’re excited; we want to share it with everybody.
However, these might not be the only reasons for which Bethesda announced the game so early as previously Pete Hines noted that he is quite worried about Elder Scrolls fans and their expectations with the game.
He added that a few years back we went to Bethesda Game Studios Director Todd Howard to ask for guidance on what to tell the fans.
Starfield is a brand new sci-fi IP from Bethesda that will launch following the release of Fallout 76. However, currently, no release date has been announced for Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI.
