Rare, in fitting with its history as the developer of one of the most well-regarded platformers of all time, today released a new Sea of Thieves figurehead for players’ ships to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Banjo-Kazooie. The figurehead is pricey, running at 1,998 gold coins, but if you’re a fan, it’s worth it.
The figurehead is of course semi-realistic, so you won’t be sailing the open sea with a bear wearing a backpack with a bird head poking out. Instead it’s a regular bear, but it’s holding a shield with a red bird on a blue field, the main colors of Banjo-Kazooie‘s two protagonists.
Most of the various items that you can buy with the amounts of gold that you get from the missions you get from the different quests that you’re issued by the game’s three factions end up being cosmetic to kit out your ship or your own pirate with clothing and sails and other decorations. Most of them are expensive, and the Banjo Kazooie figurehead is no exception.
It might be expensive, and it’s likely that there are more figureheads in the game that might look better than the Banjo-Kazooie one, but if you were a Banjo-Kazooie fan, then the new Sea of Thieves figurehead might be something that you would want for a bit of nostalgia, and it might help you find a few new friends on the high seas who have a similar affection for the bear and bird.
There’s not very much else in Sea of Thieves that’s really new, barring a number of temporary events such as the gunpowder skeletons and whatnot, but E3 has shown us that we’ll be getting at least one major content update sometime in the near future.
But, for now, you can get the new Sea of Thieves figurehead on the game now, and if you have 1,998 gold you can buy it and put it on your ship.
