You’ll Be Looking For Sailors All Over Again With Shenmue Re-Release

The release date for the Shenmue re-release has been announced, as players will be getting it on August 21 on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.

The Shenmue re-release that’s been teased for the past few months has now gotten a release date, so now you can know exactly when you’ll be able to look for some sailors all over again. Both Shenmue I and Shenmue 2 will both be added to the re-release when it releases.

The Shenmue re-release in particular will be coming out on pretty much every platform, including Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, meaning that no matter what you primarily play on (except if you’re on the Switch) you can play the games again.

The original Shenmue is seen as one of the greatest games of all time for a number of reasons, following the story of a teenage martial artist named Ryo as he attempts to track down the man that killed his father. The game was one of the most expensive of all time to make at the time, and the upcoming Shenmue 3 needed crowdfunding in order to be developed.

Shenmue is seen as a classic game, even if its dialogue and voice acting is rather odd, as it opened the door to various things like open world gameplay, popularizing the quick time event, having a wealth of options, and a large amount of detail. Various other games like Yakuza, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, God of War, and more, have taken cues from Shenmue’s game mechanics.

We haven’t seen anything about Shenmue 3 since it was first announced several years ago other than that it’s been delayed to 2019, but hopefully now that the Shenmue re-release is getting close to being released, Shenmue 3 will hopefully make an appearance next E3 or at some other gaming event within the next few years.

But if you want to play the upcoming Shenmue re-release games, they will be releasing on August 21 on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and the PC, so if you have any of those platforms you can play the game.
