Lenovo Legion Y530 Gaming Laptop With Next-Gen Nvidia GTX 1160 Coming This Holiday Season

Next-gen GPUs are currently the topic of discussion among gamers and hardware enthusiasts and Nvidia is apparently in no mood revealing them. However, leaks and rumors have suggested that next-gen Nvidia GTX 1180 will be available in August 2018 and now a new report has emerged suggesting that a next-gen Nvidia GTX 1160 variant of Lenovo Legion Y530 Gaming will be available during the holiday season.

As it was with the previous GPU lineups, the mobile version of GPUs are rolled out months after the launch of their desktop counterpart.

With leaks suggesting that next-gen Nvidia GPUs will be available in Q3 2018 then the mobile versions of next-gen GPUs will start rolling out around November or December 2018.

Lenovo confirmed that next-gen Nvidia GTX 1160 variant of Lenovo Legion Y530 Gaming will be available during the holiday season 2018.

According to LaptopMedia, the Lenovo Legion Y530 Gaming laptop features GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti variants, however, by the end of 2018 a new variant of Lenovo Legion Y530 Gaming will be released with next-gen Nvidia GTX 1160.

Furthermore, the report suggests that the mobile version of GTX 1160 will feature 6 GB of VRAM, which probably will be GDDR6. This might indicate that next-gen GPUs will feature the same amount of VRAM as GTX 10 series GPUs.

However, given that Nvidia is yet to announce the next-gen GPUs, take it with a grain of salt but it would be interesting to see what performance upgrades the mobile versions of next-gen Nvidia GPUs will bring.

Speaking of Nvidia, another report has been making rounds on the internet suggesting that next-gen Nvidia GPUs will boost VR bandwidth with a new connector.

Reportedly, Next-gen Nvidia GPUs will feature VR friendly connector that will push out the display on a much higher refresh rate with a single connector compared to previous GPUs.

Not only that, the report suggests that GTX 1180 will be able to render VR display at 120 Hz at a higher resolution.

Also, a listing for GTX 1180 emerged with a $1500 price tag. According to the listing, GTX 1180 is based on Nvidia Turing GT104 architecture and is also based on 12 nm process node.

Furthermore, it will feature 256-bit 16 GB GDDR6 memory with the frequency of 14 GHz and memory bandwidth of 409.6GB/s.
