Nvidia has been silent about its next-gen GPUs and is in no mode for revealing them anytime soon. However, a listing for Nvidia GTX 1180 has emerged along with its specs that suggest that the GPU is based on Nvidia Turing architecture, will feature 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM and more.
The listing for the next-gen Nvidia GT 1180 has emerged on Vietnamese e-commerce site H2Gaming and the listed product is ASUS ROG Gtx 1180.
The listing for the next-gen Nvidia GTX 1180 also features picture for the product, however, they are clearly based on the existing GTX 1080 packaging.
According to the listing, the next-gen GTX 1180 is based on Nvidia Turing GT104 architecture and is also based on 12 nm process node. Furthermore, the GPU features 3854 CUDA Cores, which is a 40% increase compared to GTX 1080.
As for the VRAM, the listing suggests that the GPU features 256-bit 16 GB GDDR6 memory with the frequency of 14 GHz and memory bandwidth of 409.6GB/s.
- Nvidia Turing GT104 architecture
- Based on 12 nm process node.
- 3854 CUDA Cores(40% increase compared to GTX 1080)
- 256-bit 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM.
- 14 GHz Memory Clock.
- 409.6GB/s memory bandwidth.
As for the price of the next-gen Nvidia GTX 1180, the listing reveals that the GPU is available for 34.86 million Vietnamese dong which is equivalent of $1500.
While it is just a leak but, the site has a certain degree of credibility as the same site previously leaked B360 motherboards. However, the price tag of $1500 is exaggerated since the competition is tough, Nvidia would try to price its products competitively.
However, this is not the only leak related to the GTX 1180 as recently PCB for next-gen GTX 1180 leaked online. According to the leaked PCB, the GPU features 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM, which is 4 GB less compared to the listing, 384-bit memory bus interface and more.
The reason why leaks are suggesting GDDR6 VRAM for GTX 1180 is that this particular memory has gone into mass production and can provide performance equivalent of HBM2.
Not only that, following the PCB leak PC enthusiasts took the opportunity and analyzed the leaked PCB and found that GTX 1180 Ti die is 40% larger than GTX 1080 Ti. However, the 40% increase in die size doesn’t translate into 40% increase in performance.
Also, Nvidia might reveal its next-gen GPUs at Gamescom 2018 as the reportedly the company has started to roll out invitations to press for the event.
