Comcast Outage Causes Xbox Live And PSN Connectivity Issues

If you’ve been having issues connecting to your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One today, it might be due to a Comcast outage affecting several services across the East Coast. Xbox Live and PSN Connectivity Issues are causing the network to be unavailable on both consoles along social media and more.

The issues caused by the Comcast outage are not experienced on all websites though. Even if you can log into sever social media, there’s a chance that you’ll be facing PS4 connectivity issues nonetheless. Check any issues on your consoles caused by the Comcast outage:

The outage seems to affect people using Comcast’s Xfinity ISP. As DownDetector reveals, over the past4 hours, there have been more than 11.000 reports, almost half of them affecting users’ connection to the internet. The live Comcast Outage map shows the areas affected, mainly focused at New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Chicago.

Many users reveal that their cable and internet connection were going up then shutting down again. The issue is not over yet, however, the Comcast outage seems to have been stabilized in several areas.

The Xfinity website has a guide for you to check if your area is indeed affected by the Comcast outage. Here’s what you have to do:

  • Check if a service outage has been reported in your area by signing in to your account.
  • If you’ve registered your mobile phone number for Comcast Alerts, you can text OUT to 266278 to check for outages in your area.

If one or more of your services has a red status, there is a known outage in your area. We are already aware of the problem and working to resolve it, so there’s no need to contact us. If your services all show a green status, there are no reported outages in your area and you can proceed to troubleshoot.
