Hideo Kojima Talks About Casting Lindsay Wagner In Death Stranding, It Made her Cry

E3 2018 is gone and what’s still fresh in our minds is Death Stranding which comes from none other than Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid.

Death Stranding cast includes real-life actors such as Norman Reedus, Lindsay Wagner, Mads Mikkelsen and others which makes it more than just a game for anyone in the gaming industry as they can witness their favorite actors appear in a Kojima game.

Casting these actors is never easy, there are many factors invloved but when it comes to Kojima, his name rings quite a few bells in Hollywood.

Recently,  Hideo Kojima talked about the game in detail and revealed the process of casting Lindsay Wagner, who’s famously known for her role in ”The Bionic Woman” TV series.

Kojima said he had always been a big fan of Lindsay Wagner and her work, so he wanted her to be a part of his upcoming ”Death Stranding”. Lindsay Wagner is not a fan of violence but he really wanted to happen so he insisted to just meet and talk to her.

After some persuasion, Wagner agreed to meet Kojima in a meeting which lasted more than three and half hours. Kojima talked about the games he made, mysterious themes, and how he intends to make Death Stranding different than other games. He also mentioned how during her meeting with Wagner she was impressed by the game and even had tears in her eyes.

Kojima said:

Games have a 30-something-year history that has evolved over time, but games are still about sticks, about guns. Games are connected online, but it’s still about, ‘I’m on top, I’m better at using sticks.’

He explained that he wants to bring everyone together rather than using a gun to shoot to avoid violence.

What I explained to her is that while this game will have sticks — that the player will be able to use sticks — that is not the concept of the game. The aim of the game is for the player to use ropes. I am making the game in such a way that this comes natural to the player, this alternative, of using ropes. And I went into detail on how I intend to do that.

Kojima explained by telling that these sticks have been replaced by ropes in Death Stranding by which he’s trying to bind everything together instead of using sticks or guns.

He said to her that the theme of Death Stranding is about connection and that’s when she agreed to him by accepting the offer to participate in the game.
