Battle Royale genre has been around for a while, however, the genre truly became popular with the launch of PUBG and since then there have been many Battle Royale titles. However, Dark Souls 3 featured a multiplayer mode during its development and it was called “Battle Royale”.
This is according to indie dev, Lance McDonald, who posted on his Twitter account confirming that Dark Souls 3 featured a multiplayer mode called “Battle Royale”.
However, why From Software didn’t include it in the final game is unknown and given that Dark Souls 3 predates PUBG by some time, the multiplayer mode might have played differently.
The Battle Royale Genre has been very successful and popular among the gaming community. Since its rise in popularity more and more developers are introducing this multiplayer mode in their video games.
Treyarch has even dropped the single-player for Black Ops 4 just to feature a Battle Royale mode called “Blackout”. According to Treyarch, they will be able to do this multiplayer mode better than everyone else.
We wouldn’t do this if we didn’t think we could do it best and better than everybody else. We’ve got a huge library of content, ten years of history, we’ve got the best gunplay out there, we’ve got the best movement, so we’re not too worried about it.
Furthermore, DICE will also be featuring a Battle Royale mode in Battlefield V and will incorporate the destructive environment for which the series is known for.
Speaking of Dark Souls, reports have been coming in that a bug is corrupting Dark Souls Remastered saves. According to Dark Souls community manager, players who use BitDefender and Windows Defender as they can potentially corrupt save files for Dark Souls Remastered.
Given that Dark Souls is a difficult game, this would have definitely caused frustration among players who lost their saves. So it would be wise to disable your antiviruses temporarily while playing Dark Souls Remastered.
