Assassin’s Creed Odyssey showcased at E3 2018 gave us a look at gameplay and many different features. However, what it showed very little were the differences between Odyssey and Origins.
Thankfully, a video was posted online that tried to show some of the differences between the two games. Unfortunately, the video ended up doing exactly the opposite. Instead of showing us how Odyssey is unique and better than Origins, it ended up proving that the biggest difference between the two games is the setting; one is set in Greece while the other took us to Egypt.
With that said, it is to be noted that since Ubisoft now has a base RPG template for its gameplay design thanks to Origins, future Assassin’s Creed games will only build on it by adding more features and details. This was exactly what we expected from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey but it does very little to build on the Origin’s template.
It does look better in terms of graphics which is partly due to the setting having more color. The community is not happy about it at all which is evident by the comments on the video.
The other issue, at least for me, is the absence of Assassins from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gameplay trailer. At E3 2018, we saw nothing that would indicate the existence of Assasins. In fact, the game is set 400 years prior to the creation of Assassin’s Brotherhood; so why even call it an Assassin’s Creed game?
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey release date is set for later this year. It is releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders for the game are now live.
