The Last Of Us 2 gameplay trailer really shook most of the fans, when it was shown at Sony’s E3 2018 conference. There was so much to talk about and discuss among fans, after seeing the gameplay trailer of the game. If you have seen The Last Of Us 2 gameplay trailer, then you may have noticed a few changes and improvements in Ellie’s movement.
It appears to be that, Ellie was a little more vigilant and agile than we last saw her in the first game. The reason for that is because Ellie has some new movement abilities, that the players can use to their advantage in the game.
In a recent Q&A session, the lead game designer Richard Cambier, shed light on these new movement abilities. Starting off we have the ability to dodge incoming attacks with a timed button press.
“We have a button dedicated to dodge, which was shown off in the two-vs-one [seen in the trailer] – an attack comes in and she dodges into the car”.
Then in an attempt to explain the dodge feature, he said,
“It’s a contextual dodge. Contextual melee stuff has always been a big feature in the first game, and now we’ve incorporated dodge to add a deeper challenge in the melee system.”
So, fans can expect a lot of improvements in the dodge system, perhaps a more skillful close encounters, and based on what we saw in the trailer, it seems like we will be able to avoid incoming arrows if we are dexterous enough.
We can be sure of one thing that, with this new dodge ability, Ellie will probably be more stealthy now.
Cambier explaining further said,
“It’s a button. You can do it anywhere”, “There are hiding spaces throughout the level, if you look closely [reffering to the trailer]. You can also see it’s used to approach the group unseen through vegetation that helps hide the player – you can see that in the first [game], but going prone gives you even more protection.”
So that is definitely something to look forward to, having said that are you excited for Naughty Dog’s upcoming action-adventure survival horror video game, The Last Of Us 2? Let us know in the comments below.
