AMD Raven Ridge APU Graphics Drivers Will Be Rolled Out Quarterly Despite AMD’s Promise To Unify It With Discrete GPU Driver Updates

AMD was supposed to integrate APU graphics drivers in its discrete GPU drivers, however, AMD Raven Ridge APU graphics drivers will be rolled out quarterly.

AMD rolls out drivers for its GPUs regularly, however, same can’t be said for its APUs. While AMD did announce that it will integrate APU graphics drivers in its discrete GPU driver updates, however, things seem to have changed as an AMD employee has spilled the beans that AMD Raven Ridge APU graphics drivers will be rolled out quarterly.

This is according to AMDMatt, who revealed that AMD will roll out it’s Raven Ridge APU graphics drivers quarterly during a chat on Overclockers UK forums.

During the conversation over at the forum, a user asked “How come there is no raven ridge support with the last two drivers? I thought they were now unified release?” to this AMDMatt replied that “APU drivers are updated every 3 months as WHQL releases only”.

It is safe to say that users weren’t happy with the news and the scheduling for AMD Raven Ridge APU graphics drivers.

Speaking of AMD Ryzen, two unannounced AMD CPUs have popped up online. The AMD Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X feature 3.5 GHz and 3.6 GHz base clock respectively.

These CPUs popped up along with their benchmarks and both feature a boost clock of 3.99 GHz and 8 MB of L3 cache.

AMD has also revealed the roadmap for its upcoming GPU and CPUs. According to the roadmap, the Navi GPUs and 7nm+ Zen CPUs are on track for its scheduled release but didn’t specify the release window.

Spaking of the Zen architecture, the upcoming AMD Zen 5 will be based on 3 nm process instead of on 5 nm as GlobalFoundries plans to skip the latter one altogether.

According to CEO of GlobalFoundries Tom Caulfield, he doesn’t think that 5 nm is going to be enough for the company to invest in it and 3 nm process will be required to get “full performance”.

Do you think it is good that AMD will be rolling out its APU graphics drivers quarterly? Let us know in the comments.
