A deleted tweet by well-known voice actor Nolan North has started getting some players to speculate that we’ll be getting Nolan North in DMC 5 as the villain, though so far we haven’t had any sort of confirmation over who will actually be voicing whoever the villain turns out to be.
Nolan North’s tweet was a joke about why Dante couldn’t cut onions (the answer? Because the Devil May Cry). While it seems innocent on the surface, that tweet was made on October 12 of 2016, meaning that if he really is playing the villain in the game, he likely was working on it years before the game was even announced at E3.
However, it could still just be an innocuous joke and we won’t be seeing Nolan North in DMC 5 after all. Nolan North is one of the most prolific voice actors in the world alongside Troy Baker, but he’s never been in a Devil May Cry game before. His best work is the Uncharted series, where he voices the principal character Nathan Drake.
Nolan North being in Devil May Cry 5 would be a big change for him, and considering how well-known and well-beloved the games are, him being picked to be in a Devil May Cry game would be one of his biggest roles yet, especially if the game is good and his villain is well-written.
Devil May Cry 5 is a return to the original Devil May Cry series that made the franchise popular, after the DMC: Devil May Cry reboot that many fans were less than enthused about even if the game got good reviews.
If we do see Nolan North in DMC 5, we’ll be able to see him sometime in the second quarter of 2019, when the game comes out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, so be on the lookout when that time rolls around.
