Players who have decided to forego getting the Call of Duty Season Pass in the past in order to save on money might be in for a rude awakening this time around, as Activision is apparently changing the way Black Ops 4 DLC works so that you have to buy a season pass or special edition.
Ordinarily, Call of Duty DLC packs are released as packs of four maps with a zombie mode map thrown in for good measure. However, unlike those packs where you can buy them all individually, you have to have the Season Pass or a Special Edition for the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 DLC.
While on the upside this means that all of the DLC that you get will be free instead of you having to pay for it individually, this still likely means that you’ll have to buy a season pass that’s almost as expensive as a full game. Hopefully, all of the different maps and whatnot in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will make the expense worth it.
The post-launch Black Ops 4 DLC promises a new Zombies mode called “Classified”, with four individual zombie maps (each likely filled with obtuse ways to figure out the story of that mode), twelve new Call of Duty multiplayer maps, and finally four different characters that are exclusive to the game’s Black Out mode, the battle royale mode that will be coming to Call of Duty.
With the different direction that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is taking this time around, it’s not really a surprise that all of this new stuff about the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 DLC is coming to light. The game is entirely focused on multiplayer with zombies, regular multiplayer, and battle royale, so Treyarch and Activision are likely making DLC exclusive to the season pass in order to drum up some more money.
Either way, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be releasing on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on October 12 of this year.
