To both everybody and nobody’s surprise, Bethesda finally unveiled that an Elder Scrolls 6 was in the works at the very end of their E3 conference, teasing us with a new region that we’d be able to explore. Todd Howard of Bethesda has said that the Elder Scrolls 6 trailer has plenty to pick at.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is the first mainline Elder Scrolls game in seven years, ever since The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim released in 2011, and the revamped “Special Edition” of the game was released back in 2016. While Bethesda got made fun of for porting Skyrim over to every sort of console it could last E3, the announcement of a new Elder Scrolls game is sure to get people’s excitement back up.
Of course, that leaves a whole lot of speculation about the Elder Scrolls 6 trailer itself. Where will we be going? What will the story be? When will it take place in the timeline of the Elder Scrolls universe? And what will the graphics look like?
The landscape that we were shown in the trailer has the potential to be two different regions of Tamriel, either in Tamriel or High Rock. High Rock is known as the mountainous home of the Bretons, a region divided among a multitude of different kingdoms. Considering the terrain that we saw in the Elder Scrolls 6 trailer, being very mountainous with a castle visible, High Rock might be the best bet for where we go.
The other option is Hammerfell, home of the Redguards and a more desert region than mountains, but it could still be an interesting location to explore, especially with the curved swords that guards in Skyrim were so obsessed with.
Other people have expressed the idea of going to Elsweyr, the home of the Khajiit, which is also more desert than mountains. However, hopefully no matter where we’re going, the next Elder Scrolls 6 trailer ends up telling us more. The Elder Scrolls 6 will apparently be coming out after Bethesda’s upcoming science fiction game Starfield.
