With a new Super Smash Bros game comes new Amiibos, and with all of the different characters that promise to be in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, there’s going to be a lot of new Amiibos. This includes a new Ridley Amiibo, as Ridley is one of the new characters in the game.
Ridley is known as the arch enemy of Samus Aran. A leader of the brutal race known as the Space Pirates, Ridley is responsible for killing Samus’s parents, which led to her adoption by the Chozo and led to her becoming his greatest enemy. Ridley has made appearances in a number of Metroid games, both the original ones and the controversial Metroid: Other M.
We’ve already been shown in trailers that Ridley will be a dangerous opponent for Smash players; in addition to his size, his speed and strength will also be a force to be reckoned with, especially since in the trailer he can take down both Mario and Mega Man with almost no trouble.
The existence of a Ridley amiibo also brings up the near-certainty of more amiibos for all sorts of other characters, not just those that have already been given amiibos in the Wii U Super Smash Bros game, where the amiibo first came into existence. With amiibo figures for characters like Bayonetta, Mega Man, and other Smash Bros characters for the previous game, the value of Amiibos will likely skyrocket as many more characters are given figurines.
Quite an amiibo black market sprung up around Super Smash Bros in the later stages of the Wii U’s life, with there being multiple reports of large numbers of amiibos being stolen out of the backs of trucks or being sold for huge profits, while Amiibo fight clubs sprang up across the Super Smash Bros scene as players decided to put their AI learning ability to the test.
While there’s no news of when the Ridley amiibo will come out, it will likely be released around the same time as Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which will be releasing on December 7 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
