After doing a piss poor job of controlling leaks, Ubisoft has official revealed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gameplay trailer. The game follows the pattern of Origins and is going to be an RPG at heart.
But the focus remains on the story as you control the decedent of King Leonidas. You can play as either the daughter or the son of King Leonidas which means both a male and female characters are available to the player. Gameplay changes include an improved combat system and dialogue choices. It has a very Witcher like feeling to it as your responses will determine the outcome of your engagement with the NPCs.
Wanted levels have returned; the last time we saw this feature we were playing Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. Strongholds, horse riding, better character animations, are just some of the features of the new AC game. However, there are some improvements needed for facial animations. Sea Battles are making a return as well but more details on them are expected later.
During combo kills other enemies are able to attack you which is something that needs to change. The leveling system is identical to Assassin’s Creed Origins. You gain XP from kills, side quests, and main quests. What’s interesting and a little odd about the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gameplay trailer is lack of Assassin’s in the game. There is no mention of the Assassin’s Brotherhood.
It seems the story is following a similar pattern to Origins. It tells the story of the rise of Assassins in Ancient Greece. If that is the case, it is a little disappointing to see Ubisoft rehashing Origins’ story concept.
As far as graphics go, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the most visually stunning AC game to date. But since Ubisoft is known to downgrade its games, we may see changes to the game’s visual fidelity at some point.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is releasing on October 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders for the game are expected to go live any minute.
