Making A God Of War PS5 Game Is Hard For Sony Santa Monica

Making a God of War PS5 game is going to be difficult for Sony Santa Monica due to having to familiarize themselves with a brand new console.

While it’s been said that we’ll probably be getting more God of War games in the future, Cory Barlog of Sony Santa Monica doesn’t like that he’s going to have to make a God of War PS5 game so soon after making a God of War PS4 game for it.

God of War was a game series that started out on the Playstation 2, with the first and second games coming out for that console before moving over to the Playstation 3 for God of War 3 and God of War: Ascension. Since Ascension, however, Sony Santa Monica went years without developing a God of War game, and now that they have the Playstation 4 game out they might have to scrap all of the work on the new games to make them work on the Playstation 5.

Barlog has said that he prefers Playstation 4 to Playstation 4 Pro in terms of progression, rather than a straight up full console jump. While the Playstation 4 Pro was a better version of the Playstation 4, it still shared the same general architecture, which allowed the studio to be able to easily upgrade God of War’s visuals to the Playstation 4.

However, the Playstation 5 will be an entirely different beast, and the God of War PS5 game will cause Sony Santa Monica to have to throw out everything that they know in order to familiarize themselves with the new stuff that the Playstation 5 will have, unless a new God of War will be coming out in the next few years before the Playstation 4 is replaced.

This means that the God of War PS5 game might not be as good as this game was, because Sony Santa Monica isn’t as used to that console as they were to the Playstation 2 or Playstation 4. But hopefully Sony Santa Monica will not only be able to make another masterpiece for the Playstation 5, but also be able to make multiple God of War games on that console.
