After staying quiet for some time it looked like everything was settled between two gaming giants known as PUBG Corp and Epic Games but seems like PUBG Corp was waiting for the opportune moment as the company has sued Epic Games for copyright infringement.
After suggesting that it might take action, PUBG Corp has finally filed a lawsuit against Epic Games for Copyright Infringement which was revealed in a report by Korea Times. The Korea based developer filed the lawsuit against Epic Games in January.
It will now be The Seoul Central District Court who will decide that if Fortnite Battle Royale is really a copy of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or not.
PUBG Corp revealed back in September that Fortnite might be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known for. PUBG Corp also says that it is the first standalone Battle Royale survival shooter game.
The report doesn’t mention many details but it tells us that PUBG has concerns about the Fortnite’s gameplay, UI, and structural replication as relating it to the similarities between both games.
Furthermore Korean firm added that it was regrettable that Epic Games who was a partner of Bluehole released a similar game.
On the other side, Fortnite is preparing to enter the Korean gaming market by working with Neowiz Games which can be another reason for the developer to file this lawsuit against them as Fortnite can also take much of the audience in Korea after its release.
Now we will have to wait and find out whether the injunction will stop the game from being released in the Korean market or not.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has also been struggling a lot lately and recently they admitted that the company has fallen short and revealed their plans to address the issues regarding the game.
