Overwatch On Nintendo Switch, Producer Discusses The Possibility

One of the most successful and the biggest shooters in the gaming industry is Overwatch. Blizzard has done a fine job maintaining the successful status of the game. As you may be familiar, the game recently celebrated its 40 million players achievement as well as its second anniversary. So while it is surrounded by optimism the producer of the game took time to talk about the possibility of Overwatch On Nintendo Switch.

Overwatch does possess that essence which seems perfect for the Nintendo audiences. Although Blizzard has been evasive in the past discussing the possibility of Overwatch On Nintendo Switch, now though Matthew Hawley, the senior game producer on the game, has not completely denied the possibility but in an evasive manner.

He said,

I think it is one of those things that we constantly evaluate. Where technology is going; where the industry is going. There are challenges in running on the platforms that we’re not already on, otherwise, we would probably already be on some of those other platforms. We’ll see where things go. Certainly, there is a huge number of people out there who have Nintendo Switch and mobile phones, but right now, the core development team is focused on supporting the live game.

Apparently, the team seems to be focused more on supporting the game rather than any other possibility at the moment. There have been a few fans who also thought of the possibility of Overwatch 2 to which Matthew Hawley talking about Blizzard said that the company at the moment only plans to focus on supporting the existing game, so its a no for now.

With all that said, considering the Nintendo’s admittedly half-rate infrastructure, it seems like the multiplayer-only Overwatch could rather not fit properly for the platform. Perhaps launch of the Nintendo Switch Online Service might bring improvements and increase the possibility of Overwatch On Nintendo Switch.
