Valve has been silent about new titles being in development for a long time before their upcoming card game Artifact has been announced. Apart from that, the company is working on Valley of the Gods but that’s not all. A new Valve unannounced title is in works as Valve states on the company’s website, with more to come in the future.
If you stroll through Valve’s website, you’ll notice that – apart from the eye-catching animated Aperture robot – some new Valve announced titles must be in works. Even if that’s true though the company reveals that all of their other projects except Valley of the Gods and Artifacts are “top secret”. Somewhere in the middle of the “About us” section, you can read:
Our earlier titles were built on an innovative engine with world-class gameplay as their paramount goal, and praised by critics as games that revitalized or even invented their genres.
We have some new games in the works, too. A couple have been announced, while others remain top secret.
It might take some time before we finally get to know what this new Valve unannounced title is, however, the company didn’t state that it is a completely new IP. With that in mind, we could be seeing a new Portal game or something related to Half-Life.
For the time being, only Artifact and Valley of the Gods have been revealed. Here’s what they are:
Artifact is an upcoming card game developed by Valve and Richard Garfield, inspired by Dota 2. Gameplay-wise, Artifact will be a completely different type of TCG, with three different boards, portraying Dota 2’s three lanes.
Valley of the Gods, on the other hand, is developed by Campo Santo, the studio behind Firewatch. What we know about this project is that it will be a single player adventure game set in the Egyptian desert with exploration and treasure hunt elements.
What do you think this new Valve announced title could be? Is it a new IP or a sequel to a previous Valve title?
