PlayStation 4 Was The Best Seller In US For The Month Of April

Recently the Sony IR Meeting was held and among many other things we got to hear that PlayStation 4 has entered the final phase of its life cycle. While we have been trying to contemplate that news, the NDP Group hit us with new confirmation. According to the NPD Group, PlayStation 4 was the best seller in the US for the month of April.

As if the previous month of March was not enough that PS4 became the best seller for April. Adding to that, PS4 generated the highest console sales in the month of April since Wii in 2009 and even in terms of revenue, it is the best since Wii in 2008.

According to the NPD group, the year has been good so far and there has been a consistent growth in the hardware. The spending on both Xbox One and PlayStation have been upward trending overall. Like recently due to the release of the PS4 exclusive game God Of War, the PS4 Pro pack with God Of War was the hardware that generated the most revenue in April.

Apart from that, there has also been a rise in pads sales for consoles, and the DualShock 4 was the best selling accessory in the month of April. Digging even further, according to the NDP Group, DualShock 4 Wireless Controller Black is now the best selling control of all time in terms of generated revenue.

There has been a growth of 89% in terms of sales compared to last year. The Xbox One Ear Force Stealth 600 Wireless Headset of Turtle Beach was the best selling helmet in April.

Apart from all this, in the Sony IR meeting the President and the CEO of Sony, Kenichiro Yoshida revealed that PSN has 80 million MAU, while PS4 users clocked more than 800M hours per week. Which he said has been a remarkable success.

So, seems like Sony will be cashing in the maximum revenue this year with the PS4 console, since it has entered its ending cycle, which also implies that perhaps PS5 is closer than we actually anticipate it to be.
