David Vonderhaar Confirms Black Ops 4 Blackout Mode Is In First Person

If you were thinking of a completely Battlegrounds-like idea to the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout mode, David Vonderhaar has already snuffed out that rumor. The game mode, which will be launching alongside the game later this year, will be entirely in first-person, rather than a third person view.

While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds does have a first-person mode in its own gameplay, it also has the option to toggle to third-person mode. Call of Duty apparently won’t have a third-person option (fitting as it’s one of the premiere first person shooters).

The Blackout mode is a newcomer to Call of Duty, as no game before has had anything resembling a Battle Royale mode. But it’s sure to be a fairly distinct entry into the genre provided Treyarch can make it work properly; the game will apparently host around 140 players on what Treyarch says will be the biggest Call of Duty map ever.

With 10 years of Black Ops content and the heritage of Call of Duty on its side, this might be one of the more unique versions of the Battle Royale out there; one of the main draws of the Call of Duty: Black Ops series is about all of the cool technology you get to play with, which includes wingsuits, drones of various sizes, and other technology.

This gives players a lot more options than something like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite, one of which is bare-bones with just vehicles and weapons while Fortnite allows players the opportunity to build structures to protect themselves and access hard-to-reach places.

With all of the cool tech and vehicles that are already in the Black Ops games, and with whatever else Treyarch is going to be putting together for Black Ops 4, if it’s done correctly then the Black Ops 4 Blackout mode has the potential to be a great mode.
