The upcoming eighth season is expected to finally answer the one question that audiences have been musing over since Game of Thrones began running more than seven years ago, just who will manage to sit on the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms in the end?
It turns out that not even the cast is privy to information. If you were hoping for your favorite actor to leak the ending for you, think again.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was asked about the upcoming finale but she refused to drop any hints. This was partially because doing so would spoil the television series and more so because she has no clue at all.
“I think they’re filming a bunch of stuff and they’re not telling us,” said Clarke. “I’m being serious. I’m being deadly serious. I think that they don’t even trust us.
“There’s lots of different endings that could happen; I think we’re doing all of them and we aren’t being told which is actually what’s going to happen.”
It was last year when Casey Bloys, president of programming at HBO, revealed that the crew will be preparing several different endings for the eighth season. The actual ending will be kept a secret from everyone, including the cast, until the last moment. Hence, even if the episodes get leaked beforehand, no one will be able to know for sure if they watched the authentic conclusion to the medieval tale.
The first episode in the new and last season is slated to premiere next April for Game of Thrones. There will only be six episodes in total but each will have a longer run-time.
