Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is getting a Battle Royale mode called Blackout. The mode is a combination of every feature, weapon, mode, and character from all of the previous Black Ops games. The mode was detailed during Treyarch’s May 17 live stream where the developer discussed the new Call of Duty design.
Call of Duty’s Battle Royale mode is different from anything we have seen before. It is nothing like Fortnite or PUBG but the main objective is the same, be the last one to survive. Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode will be a team based experienced with Duo and Squad modes. However, there is also a Solo mode as well if you are not a team player and would like to enter alone.
Needless to say, Call of Duty’s Battle Royale mode is going to be played in FPP.
Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode is a day-one affair which means players will have access to the mode right from the get-go. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12. It is possible that players will get to try this mode ahead of the game’s public release. According to Treyarch, Black Ops 4 beta is being held later this Summer so we may see Battle Royale mode early.
Battle Royale Mode Player Count
Fortnite and PUBG offer 100-player Battle Royale experiences but it is rumored that Call of Duty may offer up to 140 players on the map. According to Treyarch, battle royale map is 1500x bigger than Nuketown so it shouldn’t be hard to accommodate so many players. Before the official announcement, there were rumors that only 12 players will be on the map which now seems highly unlikely. Be it 12 or 140, we won’t know for sure until E3 2018 next month.
All Black Ops Maps Included
Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode is a culmination of some of the most popular maps and characters from the Black Ops universe. Players will not only be able to play as their favorite character from the Black Ops universe but also play on their beloved maps. Many old Black Ops maps are put together to create one giant Battle Royale map. To make things even more interesting, Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode will also feature zombies. It is possible that some players may spawn as zombies.
Land, Air, and Sea
For the first time ever, Call of Duty will offer land, air, and sea vehicles and all of it is exclusive to Blackout mode. There is a concern over how they will balance this out because vehicles are normally a means of transportation in Battle Royale games. Giving someone a chopper or a tank won’t end well for the rest of the team. However, there is a theory that these vehicles will be offered on killstreaks.
Well, this is everything we know about the new mode for now. You can pre-order Call of Duty Black Ops 4 to benefit from pre-order incentives.
