The rumors that Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 will include a battle royale mode have finally been made official. Blackout will be a new mode coming to the franchise through Black Ops 4, in addition, Call of Duty’s other modes like Zombies and will bring the battle royale genre closer to the Black Ops standards.

Blackout was revealed earlier today with a short video introduction by Treyarch showing footage of the game and some early mechanics. The studio didn’t try to reinvent the battle royale experience rather than mix and match it to suit “the Black Ops way”. Being the most popular video game genre right now, battle royale titles are bound to attract players, especially when tied to a franchise like Call of Duty.

The map where Blackout will be set in looks huge. Not bigger than the ones we see in PUBG as a matter of fact but big enough to house all the features that Treyarch revealed. You’ll get the chance to relive battle in locations taken straightly from past Call of Duty titles, see original characters like Hudson and Reznov, fight with old favorite weapons and navigate sea, ground and aerial vehicles.

The upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode is apparently going to be capable of supporting up to 140 players, at least that’s the count that a Redditor did of the various dots in the trailer.

Apart from the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 battle royale mode, Activision revealed more information about the upcoming title such as a new Zombie mode and the absence of a traditional single-player campaign.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12. A Nintendo Switch version of the game will also be available at a later date, as leaked by GameStop. This is just a rumor yet, however, a Switch version of Black Ops 4 has been spreading around for months now.
