As reported through the net a few days ago, Fortnite Battle Royale is right now on the list of hackers, with a total of 800.000 hacked email accounts being breached. While this isn’t a matter that should alarm you to the brink panic, you should be aware that your email and credit card details might be vulnerable even if you don’t play the game.
According to latest reports and given the popularity of the title, Fortnite Battle Royale is a potential target for hackers with game players getting “Unsuccessful Login Attempts” emails even if they haven’t played the game for a long time. This mainly concerns players that have added their credit card as a payment method, so if you experienced that you better start taking action.
Reddit user Battlescones gathered some useful tips to protect your account and make sure that your identity is safe.
First of all, if you get the “Unsuccessful Login Attempts” email from Fortnite Battle Royale then you should change your password immediately. Truth is, even if you haven’t received it go ahead and change it, it won’t take more than five minutes and it protects you from potential future harm.
Activate the two-factor authenticator. The Reddit post tags it as an “ASAP” measure and we can’t blame them. The authenticator is a huge step towards a safe account. This way you’ll be sure that your credit card details won’t fall into suspicious hands.
If you want to add a credit card for fast payment nonetheless, you better create a virtual credit card with only small sums of money so that if all fails, you at least know that actual card is safe.
After the aforementioned tips, you can also make sure that your password is strong enough, you don’t use the same password for multiple sites and don’t use the same one twice as well.
