Valve’s Steam Link App Can Run Your Steam Library On Mobile Devices At 4K 60FPS, Could Be A Game Changer If It Works

Valve’s Steam Link app allows users to stream games from PC to mobile devices including tablets and smartphones to up to 4K 60 FPS depending on the display of your mobile device. While streaming services are not something new, we have seen plenty of them come and go but this could be a game changer if this works properly provided that the implementation is done right.

Valve’s Steam Link allows you to run games from your PC to the TV or any other screen wirelessly through the internet but with the new Steam Link app the gaming experience will not be confined to larger displays but users will now be able to play games on mobile devices such as your smartphone. The app will be available on both Android and iOS and you should check it out if this is something that you are interested in.

The selling point of the Steam Link app is the fact that you can play every game that you own on your mobile device. This is very cool indeed as the future of gaming is predicted to shift to smartphones and smaller devices anyways and we have seen developers create immersive experiences for smartphones like Pokemon Go. We have also seen the insane success that the Nintendo Switch has gained since it came out.

There are going to be some limitation to this but as of right now we do not know what they are. As this is streaming, in essence, you will most likely need high-speed internet, something that not everyone has. We have seen streaming services come and go in the past and we will have to see how Steam Link app is different and what Valve is doing that counters all the issues that users face with previous streaming services.

We know that Valve has moved away from the Steam Machine but this could be the new direction that the company is taking. For more news regarding the Steam Link app and how well it works stay tuned to SegmentNext.
