In addition to undoing everything that Thanos has accomplished in Avengers: Infinity War, there is now another challenge for “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” to tackle. Someone has stolen the original Iron Man suit that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) donned to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to a new report from CBS this week, the iconic costume was last seen at a storage facility located in Los Angeles back in February but was discovered to be missing just this month.
The local law enforcement agencies are currently trying to track down the thief but there have been no cracks in the case yet. The crime could have happened at anytime in the past three months, making the investigation a bit difficult to conclude.
The original Iron Man suit is said to be worth around $325,000 and it is suggested that the surging popularity of the comic book character may have been the sole reason behind the theft.
In the meantime, fans and memorabilia collectors are requested to contact the authorities if they come across someone selling the Iron Man suit on the black market. Either that or if they spot a real-life Iron Man rocketing through the skies in their neighborhood.
The Iron Man suit has gone through a few iterations over the years. The one that has been stolen is the original one from Iron Man (2008) and just to clarify, is the sleeker version in red-and-gold — the Mark III, not the initial prototypes — the Mark I (below) and Mark II.
