New Shadow of the Tomb Raider information has come from developers Eidos Montreal, showing off a few things that are going to be coming with the new game when it releases, including a new model for Lara, non-competitive multiplayer, and multiple other factors that will be present in the upcoming game.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be taking place in a rather unorthodox location this time. Lara Croft will be traveling to the jungles of South America in order to once again battle the organization of Trinity, who was responsible for the death of Lara’s father as he hunted the Divine Source. All the while Lara will be racing to stop the arrival of a Mayan apocalypse. While we don’t know much about the game yet, hopefully that will change as we get closer to a release date.
The new Shadow of the Tomb Raider information that Eidos Montreal has shown us mainly a few small things, but as E3 approaches we’ll hopefully be getting more important info.
First off, Eidos Montreal has given Lara a more “adventurous”-looking body. Rather than the skinny teenager that we’ve been familiar with for the past two games, Lara has been given a more muscular frame this time around. Armed with professional gear and decorated with various scars, Lara’s past adventures have made her a hardened warrior and explorer that can take on any challenge.
Players will also come across an expanded survival system from Rise of the Tomb Raider, allowing you to craft items and weapons that will let you build Lara the way you want. The RPG elements will also be much more pronounced, allowing you to focus on specific builds and playstyles.
When it comes to multiplayer, the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider information has told us that there won’t be a competitive multiplayer mode. There will still be multiplayer, but Eidos Montreal has said they’re responding to fan comments and putting in a twist.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be coming out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on September 14.
