The name Arthur Morgan doesn’t really seem like anything, does it? Well, he’s the main protagonist that you’ll be playing as in Red Dead Redemption 2. Let our post enlighten you about everything we know from the trailers and some other sources around the web about Arthur Morgan.
Who is Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2?
Of many other mysteries Rockstar Games has up their sleeves, the one surrounding RDR2’s main protagonist is probably the deepest. From the trailers, we don’t know jack about Arthur Morgan aside from the fact that he rides with Dutch’s gang.
Judging purely from the trailers, Arthur Morgan seems more like an anti-hero. Threatening people including children, robbing banks, trains, and killing people in the process; sure he’s an outlaw after all. A particular quote stands out from the 2nd official trailer for the game:
Maybe when your mother is finished mourning your father… I’ll keep her in black, on your behalf.
This piece of dialogue, if not anything else, surely paints Arthur as a man who’s harsh, compromising, and willing to do the job by all means necessary. Even with the subtle threat, you could see the devilish smirk on his face. He’s definitely not the kind of guy you want to pick a fight with or hold a grudge against.
The latest trailer had something more to offer. It kind of paints Arthur in a different light. In Trailer #3, we see Arthur as a man who cares about his gang, someone who’s loyal and devoted to the cause. He sits around the campfire listening to their stories, he brings food and supplies to the members, and he assures Dutch that he’s “Always got his Back”. He almost treats the gang as his family.
Speaking of his loyalty, Arthur is one of the members Dutch trusts the most and it’s safe to assume Mr. Morgan will serve as Dutch’s right-hand man. With such a responsibility, we expect Arthur to be at the frontline of every objective and to make tough decisions.
That’s all we can know, can judge, speculate, and expect of Arthur Morgan. Hopefully, we’ll get to know more about him as we draw closer to the game’s release in October. Until then, stay tuned!
